More Bayside and Four Year Strong

Smooth drive, made it way ahead of schedule, thanks to driving in the 80s most of the way, hit 103 on some of the hills. Speeding ticket 9 miles away from our destination for going 70 in a 55. Fack PA!

Found a nice little bar, Adams Apple to get started at. We violated half the dress code and most of the house rules with our jerseys and talking loudly about sex, drinking and rock and roll. Couple beers, then I parked in a garage and we head in line, which had grown faster than we expected.

Spent over an hour standing in the mist, just above freezing. People are saying its sold out, 30 people in front of us in line most of them in need of tickets. Doors finally open and the bouncers start doing some shady shady “sales” in the hallway. We manage to get some of the last stubs and get into the show.

Dying for some Jameson to warm up after standing in the cold… “oh I’m sorry, this is PA and we are bass ackwards. All ages show means we can’t serve booze. Want some water or red bull?” Jaws drop. Kids lighting up cigarettes all over the place but a 25 year old can’t get a flippin beer? Fack PA.

We find a nice person to call me when the opening band is done then find the owner and get special stamps for re-entry. We run past the hundreds of people still in line back to the Adams Apple. 2 Giant double shots of Jameson ensue. Beer, double shots of Wild Turkey, Capn & coke. Phone call comes in that Steel Train is done. double shots of jack then run back to the concert. All in about 40 minutes.

Stuck in the very back because it’s a narrow venue. Rock out hard in the back with a very good buzz kicking in. Merch guys recognize us, talk with Josh and Joe from FYS for a bit. Tell them we will be drinkin downstairs right after the show.

Downstairs we find #9 on tap and $1 mind erasers. We start talkin with the bartender and she gives us a slight variation on the mind eraser for free. Then we do Dead Jean Bennet Ramsey shots for next to nothing. Josh from FYS shows up, we drink and talk with him for a while. He goes back to the van with his band, we move on down the street.

Sweet cover band Shots McGee is playing at Phyrst. We start rockin out up front, takin pictures, drinkin green beer that is on sale (duh) for $4 pitcher. Rest of the crowd starts dancing with us, band gets really into it. Lots of video and pictures taken:

Finally make our way to a hotel after things close, pass out. Next morning, majorly hung over. Breakfast at the Waffle Shop, I think we were legally dead for a few minutes before the food showed up. This was followed by a very groggy 3 hour drive to Pittsburgh. Fog and stupid mountains all over the place. At least we had some awesome chili cheese dogs at a gas station called Sheetz. Billboard advertising actually werks.

Millvale on the outskirts of Pittsburgh is just as shitty as the rest of Pittsburgh. “Pittsburgh, We Only Live Here Cause We Have To.” We ripped on the city and the whole state in general for about 4 hours. Started drinking as soon as we showed up at some dive bar. Moved down the street looking for food but everything is not just closed, buildings are boarded up! “Pittsburgh, Hope You Aren’t Hungry.” “Pittsburgh – Sorry, We’re Closed.” “Pittsburgh, Where We Are Still Workin On Street Lights.” What a shithole.

We found a great place called Grant Bar and Lounge, great food. Made our way to the show only to find out it had started raining pretty hard. We try all sorts of doors to get into the venue. Walking around the building, through a maze, we go through a very narrow corridor. Find an unlocked door that says “SHOWER.” We walk in and a guy walks buy in just a towel. WTF??? Out another door we go outside again, take a flight of stairs down to a new door. Finally we are into the show and its already packed cause doors opened earlier than we thought. Oh well, at least they have a separate area in the back serving booze.

Turns out Steel Train is really good. FYS had to play without Dan, a lead singer, since he is in the hospital. The other singer was runnin out of breath trying to sing all the words. They did a short cover just so they keyboard player could sing one song, they still had a good time, but I think they are gonna have to drop off the tour after a few more shows. Bayside was really amazing. Anthony seemed way more into the crowd than usual. Unfortunately they were not headlining and did not play an acoustic tune, but everything they did play was flippin amazing!

Decided to have one more beer at the dive bar I parked in front of before the drive back. It started snowing almost right away. Roads were a mess, finally had to slow down. I almost got us killed more times than you can shake a stick at because I was impatient and really wanted to make it to Buffalo in time for Mighty Taco. That failed.

Overall an amazing 2 days, full of awesome and win. More people need to share in this stuff with us to truly understand how amazing we are.
